“I've been riding since I was 8 years old (44 years ago). My first bike was a mini-bike purchased for $100 from Whites Auto Stores in San Antonio, Texas. It was a Briggs and Stratton 2.5 HP pull string motor. I’ve been riding ever since! I became certified to teach the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course in 2002. I teach because I love motorcycling and being around others who love motorcycling as well. If I can teach someone at least one thing to make them safe - or safer – on a motorcycle, then I have done my job. "Ride safe – Ride Often!"

Like most young teens in the early 60's, bicycles were our main mode of transportation. Then my first ride on a Moped. I was hooked on motorized 2 wheelers. A Cushman Eagle was next and over the years a dozen or so bikes, different brands, styles and sizes. Now it's the '08 Honda Goldwing. Learning to ride back then was trial and error. I recall a ride through the woods. It seemed easier than going around the curve in the street. Corners were scary at first. Now with beginner riding classes, something I wish we had then, learning to ride is fun and invaluable. Learning to ride safely in traffic, riding techniques and strategies, control's use, and so much more, is the smartest way to begin your riding career. I look forward to helping you begin your journey on 2 wheels.

Been riding since I could balance a bicycle on whatever I could get away with, 2; 3; or 4 wheels it didn’t matter. Started riding on the street around ’88, took the course in ’94 & enjoyed it so much I eventually got certified to teach in ’99 & have been teaching ever since. When I can, I like to spend time on the track & in class honing my skills. Small group rides are a real fun way I’ll waste a day (or two). I prefer the sport touring rigs but with the youngsters getting to that age that getting back to the dirt is starting to look real good. See you down the road.

Jose is a native of Las Cruces, New Mexico and a retired US Navy Chief. He has been a motorcycle rider for 20 years and has been an instructor for 9 years. He initially started training motorcycle riders in Corpus Christi while stationed at NAS Corpus Christi in Sept 2001 and upon retiring in 2003 moved to Houston. His motivation for teaching is to pass on the fun of being on two wheels while learning to ride correctly and safely from the beginning. If you are in his class expect to learn to ride and have lots of fun.

Came to Houston from panhandle of Texas 30 years ago. Learned to ride on a Honda 90 in an empty field somewhere in the mid- to late-60's. Became an MRC-RSS instructor in 1994 after having taken the class and falling in love with the concept of what it meant. Have a Honda Magna and ride when I am not on the range with students.
